How does the therapeutic process work?

Over the course of the sessions…

The first session

The first meeting is a time for discussion. We explore your needs together and define the framework for our therapeutic relationship (frequency and duration of sessions, adherence to appointments, online or in-person, payment terms, and termination arrangements).

The following sessions

Sessions focus on the here and now. Together, we explore your thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and memories. This work allows you to better understand your relational patterns and experience new ways of being.

Throughout the sessions, I remain fully present and attentive to your needs, without judgment. I guide you in expressing what is alive within you: concerns, feelings, or lived experiences. My approach sometimes includes intentionally sharing my own feelings to facilitate your awareness and help you move forward. What happens between us in the therapeutic relationship also becomes a field of exploration.

Gradually, this therapeutic work allows you to mobilize your resources, reconnect with your autonomy, and make your life choices with greater freedom and serenity.

The last session(s)

You are free to end the support when you feel you have achieved sufficient autonomy. However, therapy does not end abruptly, and it is essential to announce your wish to stop in order to schedule one or more closing sessions.

The final session(s) constitute(s) an important moment to close the therapeutic work. This (these) final meeting(s) allows us to take stock of the progress made, to revisit the developments and the resources mobilized, and to end the process gently, in a respectful setting.

Duration and pace of sessions

  • 60-minute sessions

  • It's best to schedule sessions every week. If this is too restrictive, we can agree on three sessions per month.

  • In the event of a critical situation requiring more intense support, we can schedule up to 2 sessions per week over a limited period.

In person or online

  • I welcome you in person at my office in Utrecht, less than 15 minutes from Utrecht Central Station (on foot or by bus). I also offer online sessions.

  • In-person sessions allow for more direct contact and the exploration of new ways of relating.

  • However, remote sessions offer valuable flexibility while maintaining continuity of therapeutic work. They can be just as enriching as a face-to-face session.
